This article investigates the phenomenon of Suicide by Cop (SbC), translated as "suicide by police response," analyzing its characteristics, implications, and relevance for the Military Police of Paraná (PMPR) in crisis management and the use of lethal force. Based on a comprehensive review of national and international literature, the study explores the psychological and demographic profiles of the individuals involved, the characteristic patterns of incidents, and the operational challenges faced by security forces. Additionally, methodological limitations and the lack of standardization in classifying SbC occurrences are discussed, factors that impact the understanding of the phenomenon and the formulation of effective guidelines for its mitigation. The research highlights the need for specific training for security agents, emphasizing the importance of de-escalation strategies, integration with multidisciplinary teams, and the development of intervention protocols that prioritize the preservation of life.
