TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS IN THE DETECTION AND TREATMENT OF MALIGNANT NEOPLASMS OF THE MAXILLARY SINUSES – A LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

This article is a literature review that looks at technological innovations in the detection and treatment of malignant neoplasms of the maxillary sinuses, with an emphasis on the evolution of diagnostic and therapeutic methods. Firstly, the most recent imaging techniques are discussed, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging and cone beam computed tomography, which allow for more precise diagnoses and the identification of anatomical and metabolic alterations. In addition, the research explores the growing relevance of molecular biomarkers, which make it possible to stratify patients and choose personalized target therapies, optimizing treatment efficacy and reducing adverse effects. Advances in immunotherapy are also analyzed, especially the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors, which have shown promising results in patients refractory to conventional therapies. The results highlight the importance of integrating these technologies into clinical practice, promoting the personalization of treatment and improving patients' quality of life. This article therefore aims to contribute to the understanding of contemporary practices in maxillofacial oncology, highlighting the need for constant updating of health professionals and the effective implementation of these innovations.
