Abstract

The bioeconomy has emerged as a promising approach to promoting sustainability, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and fostering innovation and social inclusion. This article examines the challenges and opportunities of the bioeconomy within the context of the green transition, emphasizing its relationship with the circular economy, governance, and socio-environmental justice. The research employed a systematic review and secondary data analysis, selecting recent studies published between 2023 and 2025. The main challenges identified include regulatory barriers, lack of financial incentives, and the risk of bioeconomy appropriation by industrial interests. As a strategy for a sustainable and inclusive bioeconomy, the study recommends implementing public policies that ensure active participation of local communities, professional training, and international cooperation. The study concludes that the bioeconomy can play a central role in the transition to a sustainable economy, provided that its implementation is guided by principles of equity, innovation, and environmental conservation.
