Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) is a chronic condition of multifactorial origin prevalent worldwide, especially primary or essential hypertension. In Brazil, spending on primary care health services for the control and treatment of arterial hypertension is significant, requiring complementary therapeutic approaches, especially acupuncture. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effects of acupuncture in the control of SAH at the primary level through an integrative literature review. Articles between 2020 and 2025 were selected from the electronic sources BVS, PubMed, PEDro and Periódico CAPES. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the articles were selected and methodologically analyzed using the PEDro scale, totaling 3 articles for discussion. Traditional and auricular acupuncture were addressed, demonstrating that they are a safe, effective and viable technique in reducing blood pressure, in addition to promoting benefits in physical and emotional aspects. The methodological variations, application sites and limited samples suggest the need for studies with greater standardization and sampling. It is concluded that acupuncture is a promising strategy in the management of hypertension at the primary level, contributing to a more humanized and holistic approach to health.
