Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic brought significant numbers of deaths and infections around the world. Its rapid spread, the lack of proven effective treatment and the scarcity of the vaccine, made social isolation the safest way to avoid being contaminated. Objective: To carry out a narrative review of the costs of PPE with the onset of the pandemic. Materials and methods: This is a qualitative study of narrative review of scientific articles related to The Cost of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) with the Advent of the Pandemic, in which the research results will be analyzed and synthesized, aiming to deepen the knowledge about the theme. Results: Since coronavirus cases spread throughout Brazil and the world, some PPEs have become increasingly rare and the crisis of these equipments affected the recommendations on these items, being a subject discussed since then. Conclusion: Through this study, the same reports the paramount importance of PPE for the hospital class, where its relevance became even more evident during the pandemic that the world is experiencing today. The lack of inputs generates insecurity in the multidisciplinary team, compromising care in helping the patient and in their own care as a health professional, being committed to the front line of combating COVID-19, strongly showing that comprehensiveness must be continuous across all sectors, as it is the correct demand for each hospital.
