HEALTH EDUCATION STRATEGIES FOR ADOLESCENTS WITH DOWN SYNDROME: INTEGRATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW

Objetivo: to identify the strategies on health promotion for adolescents with Down syndrome. Method: An integrative literature review was carried out on the databases MEDLINE, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, LILACS and Science Direct. The Descriptors in Health Sciences and Medical Subject Headings selected were Intervenção Educativa/Educational Intervention/ Intervencion Educativa; Adolescent/Adolescent/Adolescent; Down Syndrome/Down Syndrome/Down Syndrome, combined with Boolean operators AND and OR. Studies published in the last 10 years in Portuguese, English and Spanish were included. Duplicates and studies that did not answer the research question were excluded. Results: The sample resulted in seven articles. Among these, six were international publications, belonging to the United States, Italy, Germany, Spain and Australia. The main theme focused on was a healthy lifestyle. Final considerations: The researchers point to a gap in scientific knowledge aimed at people with Down syndrome, requiring the inclusion of effective strategies for education and health promotion for this public.
