Abstract

Objective- Evaluate the effects of the use of Noninvasive Mechanical Ventilation (VNI) at the time of the crisis in asthma adults. Methods- A systematic review was made, based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta Analis (PRISMA) method. Randomized clinical studies, case-control, cohort studies and clinical trials, written in Portuguese and English, published between 2017 and 2022 on the Virtual Health Library website (BVS), Physiotherapy Database (PEDRO) and portal PubMed, published between the 2017 and 2022, through the use of the descriptors “Asthma”, “Bronchial Asthma”, “Noninvasive Ventilation”, “Bipap”, “CPAP” and “Bilevel”. Results- At the end of the searches were included 6 studies in the present review among the main results found it was possible to observe that the use of VNI occurred in association with medication in patients during asthma crises, and the ventilatory mode that resulted in better physiological effects It was BIPAP (12 cm H2O and 8 cm H2O EPAP IPAP programming). The use of BIPAP mode in conjunction with bronchodilating medication promoted decreased respiratory discomfort, hospitalization time and mortality rates, pulmonary uninflation, oxygenation improvement and pulmonary ventilation, respiratory rate reduction and increased oxygen saturation in these patients. Conclusion- VNI associated with bronchodilating medication promoted satisfactory benefits in patients with asthma seizures, improving respiratory parameters and reducing hospitalization and mortality in these individuals.
