Abstract

Monitoring for undergraduate students is based on collective construction, bringing benefits to the monitor and students taking the course. It is a practice that encourages the student's teaching experience, closer ties between the monitor and the person responsible for the course, in addition to deepening knowledge in the content. The objective is to report the methodology adopted in monitoring of the curricular component Academic Texts Workshop – Article, offered at the Federal University of Southern Bahia. Through public notice nº 01/2021 of the Pro-Rectory of Academic Management at UFSB monitor was selected for the curricular component, offered by the Interdisciplinary Bachelor in Health. The monitor acted as a link between the professor and the students, being able to contribute to a better use of content and time in the construction of knowledge by the students, where the final result was the construction of an academic article by the participants. Monitoring enabled the awakening of skills and vocation in teaching through situations such as support for doubts, updates and organization of classes. The curricular component ended with the writing of five manuscripts with the participation of the monitor. The inclusion of monitors in the Academic Texts Workshop – Article at Federal University of Southern Bahia contributed to providing opportunities for teaching experiences and to participate in the production of scientific papers with the students. The educational institution's initiative was extremely favorable in the development of these skills in the monitor.
