Skin aging is characterized by significant changes in the dermis and epidermis, resulting from intrinsic and extrinsic factors, with laxity being one of the main problems arising from the loss of collagen and elastin. In this context, collagen biostimulators emerge as an alternative for skin rejuvenation by stimulating the natural production of collagen by the body’s cells. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of biostimulators used in aesthetic treatments, emphasizing the different application techniques, combinations of agents, and their implications for tissue quality, patient satisfaction, and incidence of adverse effects. The methodology consisted of a literature review, selecting articles published in the last five years from the PubMed and Google Scholar databases. Analyzing 14 selected studies, promising results were identified, indicating a significant improvement in skin quality, facial volume, and contours, accompanied by high patient satisfaction. Biostimulators demonstrated the ability to stimulate collagen production, contributing to skin rejuvenation naturally. Furthermore, the review highlights the importance of personalizing treatments, considering the individual needs of patients, to maximize results and minimize possible adverse effects. Despite the positive data, there is a need for additional research to investigate the safety profile and long-term efficacy of biostimulators in aesthetic clinical practice, aiming to establish more robust guidelines for their use.
