PRINCIPIOS DE LA TERAPIA PALIATIVA EN EL CUIDADO DE PACIENTES CON CÁNCER DE MAMA METASTÁSICO

Teniendo en cuenta el aumento en el número de casos de cáncer, especialmente cáncer de mama, parte de ellos sin posibilidad de curación, es evidente la necesidad e importancia de los cuidados paliativos que apuntan a la comodidad y el manejo al final de la vida de los pacientes con cáncer. El objetivo de este trabajo es definir las principales recomendaciones de terapia paliativa propuestas en la atención de pacientes con cáncer de mama metastásico. Se realizó una revisión integradora de la literatura con los descriptores en Ciencias de la Salud "Cáncer de mama metastásico" Y "Cuidados paliativos" en las siguientes bibliotecas virtuales: MEDLINE, PUBMED, Literatura Latino- LILACS y SCIELO. El uso de cuidados paliativos en pacientes con cáncer de mama metastásico ha aumentado significativamente en los últimos años. Esta intervención es beneficiosa para mejorar la calidad de vida de las mujeres metastásicas. La mayoría de los estudios indican que la institución de la terapia temprana mejoró la información sobre los síntomas de la enfermedad, la gravedad y las pautas de tratamiento. La estrategia de cuidados paliativos impacta positivamente en la calidad de vida de los pacientes y sus familias porque es un programa de apoyo físico, psicosocial y espiritual. Además, debe iniciarse temprano después del diagnóstico de cáncer de mama metastásico para garantizar un mayor beneficio.
