USO DEL CANNABIDIOL COMO ALTERNATIVA EN EL TRATAMIENTO DE LA DERMATITIS ATOPICA Y PSORIASIS

Resumen

La dermatitis atópica y la psoriasis son enfermedades inflamatorias crónicas de la piel con manifestaciones características. La dermatitis atópica, asociada a la predisposición genética, presenta eccema debido a una tríada de causas: desregulación inmunitaria, alteración del microbioma cutáneo y disfunción de la barrera cutánea. Hay teorías que debaten la secuencia de estas causas, algunas afirman que la disfunción de la barrera desencadena la respuesta inmunitaria y otras creen lo contrario. La psoriasis se caracteriza por la aparición de lesiones papuloescamosas y puede asociarse a artritis psoriásica. Su fisiopatología está relacionada con desequilibrios en el sistema inmunológico, particularmente involucrando a las células CD4+, Th1 y Th17. Una planta, el Cannabis sativa, ha ganado protagonismo en el tratamiento de estas afecciones debido a la presencia de cannabinoides, especialmente CBD. El sistema endocannabinoide, presente en el cuerpo humano, interactúa con estos cannabinoides, proporcionando efectos antiinflamatorios y antioxidantes, que son beneficiosos para el tratamiento de la dermatitis atópica y la psoriasis. Los estudios apuntan a la eficacia de los cannabinoides en la inhibición de la proliferación de queratinocitos y la modulación de los componentes inflamatorios. Sin embargo, aún se necesita más investigación para estandarizar las dosis y las formulaciones, así como para determinar la seguridad y eficacia del uso del cannabis medicinal en afecciones dermatológicas.
