Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, has led to systemic complications, including the phenomenon known as "long Covid." Atypical reports of hair loss following infections have raised concerns about telogen effluvium and alopecia areata in the affected population. This qualitative and descriptive study aimed to deepen the understanding of the relationship between Covid-19, acute telogen effluvium, and alopecia areata through an integrative review conducted on the BVS and Pubmed databases. Among the 134 references initially found, 9 were selected as key results after critical reading. We examined the relationship between post-Covid-19 hair loss, emphasizing immunological and psychological factors. The connection between Covid-19 and alopecia areata was highlighted, emphasizing the virus's potential triggering role. The notable prevalence of dermatological conditions, especially telogen effluvium, underscores the need for a comprehensive approach to treatment. In conclusion, we emphasize the importance of a holistic understanding in post-Covid-19 treatment, considering pathophysiological aspects and psychological impacts. Understanding immunological, psychological, and hair cycle factors guides effective therapeutic strategies, providing emotional support to those affected.
