Abstract

The pandemic caused by COVID-19 is postulated as one of the greatest health crises of all time, given its high rate of infection and mortality. In many cases, its consequences are not limited to respiratory symptoms alone, but can result in neurological disorders. In view of this, the present study aimed to study patients with COVID-19 who could present neurological symptoms. Thus, it was desired to identify the pathophysiological and clinical evidence related to neurological changes in patients with Covid-19. To this end, an integrative review was carried out among scientific articles searched in health databases and subsequently selected by a filtering process. At the end of the study, the direct relationship between neurological disorders and virus infection was evidenced, with the sensory function being the most affected through manifestations such as headache, dysgeusia and anosmia. Likewise, the study also highlighted that such sequelae are more expressive in elderly patients.
