Abstract

Recife is located near the equator, receives high incidence of insolations directly to its surface. The objective is to study the characterization and climatic conditions of insolation in the city of Recife by producing graphs representative of the monthly and annual distribution in addition to the variability of high and low insolation for the period 1962 to 2016. The low cloud cover, between the months from October to January, the thermal oscillation over normalities and the occurrence of fire outbreaks cause high values of insolation. In the months of April, May, June and July, the lowest incidence of sunshine is recorded, this buoyancy is linked to the rainfall-inducing or inhibiting systems in the study area, and is still interconnected with the meso and low-scale phenomena in the region. The importance of regionalization of sunshine for agricultural purposes, energy generation and climate studies is reiterated. The lack of extensive time series is scarce or little diffused, thus hindering better scientific articles and their knowledge.
