KNOWLEDGE OF BRAZILIAN SCHOOL PROFESSIONALS ABOUT CONDUCT IN CASES OF TOOTH AVULSION - AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE

School is the environment where children are most present during the day. It is not uncommon for accidents to happen, especially involving dental elements. Dentoalveolar avulsion involves the complete displacement of a tooth from its socket and requires adequate first aid to avoid further complications, such as impaired speech, eating and especially bullying, affecting the self-esteem of the traumatized student. This integrative review consists of a rigorous synthesis of research focused on databases according to scientific relevance, in which the step-by-step process consists of collection, followed by synthesis and interpretation of data. Articles from the last ten years (2013 to 2023) were selected through the platforms PubMed (database managed by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, indexed in MEDLINE), LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences) and Google Academic, using the descriptors, related to each other with the Boolean operator “AND”. Keywords were identified using DeCS (Health Science Descriptors). Moving on to the PICO strategy (acronym for P: population/patients; I: intervention; C: comparison/control; O: outcome/outcome) and the ideas organized through the PRISMA flowchart, which consists of a checklist of 27 items that are reviewed in detail. The results pointed to the need to educate school professionals regarding the correct conduct in the face of dentoalveolar trauma, especially tooth avulsion, as they are unprepared to provide support to a traumatized child or adolescent in the educational environment.
