Abstract

Spectrophotometry is an optical instrumental method widely used for quantitative determinations in analytical chemistry, having as a principle the interactions between light and matter. The present study aimed to apply knowledge of the UV-Vis spectrometry technique in the determination of the spectral length range and maximum chlorophyll absorption present in the cabbage and bilberry plant species. Extracts from both plants were prepared using calcium carbonate and ethyl alcohol PA. The scan was performed in the wavelength range of 400 to 700 nm. The results obtained allowed the students to understand the relationship between the interaction of white light and plant pigments, as well as to determine the specific wavelengths for each plant species where the absorption is maximum.
