Abstract

Congenital toxoplasmosis is a health condition acquired during pregnancy and transmitted from the mother to the fetus, among the observed clinical consequences one can detect symptoms and eye impediments, which can be attested during the first months of the child's life. Congenital toxoplasmosis leads to characteristic symptoms in infants and is as prevalent in the urban environment as in the field, possible risk factors include geographic location, poor diagnosis and late diagnosis. Through a literature review, we seek to create a protocol of findings and conducts so that the optometrist can act through noninvasive techniques in the examination of children and in the detection of the disease so that later treatments administered by other health professionals are more effective.
