Abstract

The History of Youth and Adult Education in the Brazilian context is characterized by several elements strongly related to social, economic, ideological and cultural factors that have their roots since the colonization of Brazil and marked by different policies imposed by the interests of the elite. Thus, this study aims to identify the causes and consequences related to school dropout and the benefits of the permanence of Youth and Adult Education students in the school context, as well as to analyze the possible difficulties that affect the students of this type of education. In order to substantiate the research, a bibliographic research was conducted, with a time cut of studies from 2008 to 2020, based on the studies of Ribeiro (2010), Oliveira (2015), Fernandes; Oliveira (2020), and others that guide this teaching modality. The research also sought to understand how teachers of Youth and Adult Education can relate school content to the experience of the student with more specific goals to their reality. Thus, it is hoped that through this research it will be possible to perceive the real obstacles that make the harmonic development of Youth and Adult Education impossible, the obtaining of data that foment the obstacles faced by the students of this modality and highlight the relevance of the role of the teacher as a way to lead the student to success in school.
