Abstract

This investigation deals with illnesses in teaching professionals, many of them, caused by the precarious working conditions, intense working hours, excessive number of students in the classroom, lack of resources and infrastructure are also aggravating factors that can contribute to the illness of professionals teachers. The research had as general objective: To determine the illnesses in professional teachers of public schools caused by the exercise of the profession. And as specific objectives: describe the working conditions of public school teachers; specify the causes and reasons for leave of absence; determine the risk factors and causes of illnesses due to the exercise of the teaching profession; and to analyze the teachers' physical and mental health. According to the problem and the research objectives, the focus of the research is quantitative, the technique for data collection was through a structured questionnaire and scale, the method is descriptive, transversal, type survey. The population was 89 subjects who work in two state schools, one in Belém and another in Ananindeua - PA. The reliability index of the complete questionnaire was obtained by calculating Cronbach's alpha statistic. For analysis of results, the statistical program SPSS v.23 was applied. The data analysis process was general, labor dimension and physical and mental health dimension. The results reveal that the work environment, satisfaction and working conditions in which teachers exercise their jobs, can lead them to the process of becoming ill.
