In the nursing work process, professionals are subject to different types of risks, including biological risk. In this sense, there is microbiology, an area of science that studies the living beings present in the environment. A small number of these can cause diseases and knowledge of the particularities of microorganisms and how to prevent them becomes essential for the worker's health. Therefore, the objective of this research was to reflect on the pathogens present in the daily profession of nursing in Primary Care. For this, it carried out a bibliographical survey and subsequent interpretation of the texts allied to the theoretical foundations of nursing. Thus, it was possible to identify four categories that permeate this phenomenon: Lack of microbiology study, Low investment in infection control in Primary Care, Microbiological contamination in nursing, Biosafety and the work environment . Thus, despite the Family Health Strategy being the gateway to the Health Unic System (SUS), the hospital-centric culture is still in force in national and microbiological health policies, while the lack of strict control of contamination leads to ignorance of it, as well as the scarcity of studies in the area. It is inferred that nursing has in its essence caring not only for individuals but also for the environment, and the rescue of this ideal may corroborate for an improvement in the well-being of all involved
