Abstract

Cases related to type 2 diabetes mellitus have become frequent. Based on books and scientific articles, the objective of this work, related to this pathology, is to raise awareness of a disease that in most cases is silent. In type 2 diabetes mellitus, the body does not produce insulin, or creates a resistance, thus favoring the increase of cardiovascular diseases. There are many cases in which type 2 diabetes has been a determining factor, such as lower limb amputations, causing not only a physical problem in amputee patients, but also affecting psychological and emotional problems. With the increase in cases of this disease, many factors are related to this pathology, such as: sedentary lifestyle, obesity, inadequate diet, and may also be related to heredity. This study emphasizes that prevention is the best way to avoid the disease, so it is always important to be up to date with laboratory tests.
