Covid-19, a viral disease caused by SARS-Cov-2, causes nonspecific symptoms, which can be confused with other viral infections, such as Dengue. The objective is to identify the confounding biases between the diagnostic tests for Covid-19 and dengue, as well as their possible impacts in Brazil and other countries endemic to these diseases. Material and method: A literature review was carried out in which 20 articles were selected, 14 articles from PubMED and 6 documents from the Ministry of Health and WHO, between January and July 2021. Results and discussion : There are rapid and molecular tests with different specificities and sensitivities for the diagnostic confirmation of Covid-19 and Dengue, which can present cross-reactions, causing false positives for both diseases. In view of the characteristics evaluated by the tests and the antigenic similarities of the S protein and the envelope of the Dengue virus, it is possible to consider false positives in both diseases, due to a possible cross-reaction. Final considerations: RT-PCR is the most sensitive and specific test, so ideally, more than one rapid test can also be performed for correct diagnosis.
