Abstract

In Brazil, approximately 29% of all deaths are related to heart disease, thus constituting one of the most common causes of deaths nationwide. Among these, the situations of cardiorespiratory arrest stand out, a condition in which it is necessary that the people affected for this aggravation to be rescued quickly through an efficient service. However, ignorance and lack of preparation have been observed both in many health professionals and in the general population on this topic. The present study aims to analyze national and international scientific productions with themes that cover education in cardiopulmonary resuscitation for high school students through the use of educational actions on the theme. This is a bibliographic review, whose research was carried out electronically, through consultation of scientific articles published nationally in the SciELO database. Teaching about cardiorespiratory resuscitation, when started in the school period, becomes an important means to reduce mortality due to the lack of knowledge about the subject, thus preventing the lay rescuer from facing this emergency situation. It is therefore relevant to raise awareness of the importance of lay education in order to increase survival, since early access to specialized services may be delayed by the inability of people to diagnose CRP and to call for help.
