Assessment plays a central role in teaching and learning, helping teachers and students identify challenges and opportunities for growth in the educational process. More than a tool for measuring performance, it is a valuable resource for guiding pedagogical practices and promoting the integral development of students. This article addresses the main theoretical concepts related to assessment and explores how they can be applied in a practical way in the classroom. With a special focus on strategies that foster inclusion, the article discusses approaches that consider the different needs of students, ensuring that all have access to a quality education. Through a detailed literature review and the analysis of applied examples, the article seeks to provide both theoretical and practical support to educators who wish to make their assessment practices more effective and aligned with the demands of the contemporary context. In addition, it presents common challenges faced in the use of assessment in the classroom, as well as suggestions for innovative strategies that contribute to overcoming these barriers. The ultimate goal is to show how assessment, when used well, can transform educational dynamics, reinforcing learning, inclusion, and continuous improvement in teaching. Thus, the text invites teachers and managers to rethink the role of assessment in their pedagogical practices.
