Abstract

Complex partial seizure, known as temporal lobe epilepsy, is a brain disorder caused by the brain's permanent predisposition to generate spontaneous epileptic seizures. It presents with temporary dysfunction of a group of neurons, which can lead to symptoms such as reduced concentration, loss of short and/or long-term memories, visual-spatial and verbal changes. The objective of this study was to report an episode of temporal lobe epilepsy that occurred in a patient in the city of Jaú-SP. This is a qualitative methodology, where there was a report of a case that occurred in a single patient, using the medical records made available by Santa Casa de Jaú-SP. This is a female patient, 19 years old, who was admitted to the ward with confusional symptoms, memory loss and difficulty carrying out activities. There was a bibliographic search to compare the patient's signs and symptoms in relation to Works published over the last five years (2019 - 2023) through books on neurological pathology and Articles published through electronic media Lillacs, Scielo, Google Scholar and VHL health.
