Abstract

Introduction: Asthma is a chronic multifactorial disease characterized by variable airflow limitation and inflammation of the lower airways, which cause respiratory symptoms such as coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. The development and maintenance of symptoms result from a complex interaction between specific and genetic factors, comparative studies of physical activity levels between young asthmatics and non-asthmatics do not present similar results. Objective: To define, identify and perform a literature review on the impact of exercise on quality of life in adolescents with asthma. Methodology: This study is a literature review carried out through searches in the electronic databases SCIELO, PUBMED and GOOGLE ACADÊMICO using Boolean operators "AND", "NOT" and "OR". Results: 10 articles were selected, all of them in Portuguese, a study in adolescents aged between 12 and 17 years. Conclusion: We conclude that asthmatic adolescents have a low tolerance to physical exercise, with a high risk of developing obesity, but they should be stimulated in the same way as non-asthmatics, as both gain the same benefits.
