Abstract

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) had its first description in the early 1980s, being described as a retrovirus capable of transcribing its RNA genome into a double-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecule, prior to integration from the virus genome to the host cell chromosome. In the early 1980s, antiretroviral therapy (ART) began to be developed as a means of combating the progress of the disease in patients who had the virus. Thus, the present work has as main objective to present the drugs and treatments currently offered in Brazil to combat HIV through the so-called ART. For this, the methodology chosen for the development of this research was that of bibliographic-descriptive. The collected results show that in Brazil it counts on the following classes of drugs as antiretroviral therapies: Protease inhibitors (IP) Nucleoside / Nucleotide analog reverse transcriptase inhibitors (INTR / INTRt) Non-nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitors (INNTR) Inhibitors input (IE) Integrase Inhibitors (INI).
