Abstract

Introduction: the changes and adaptations frequently demanded by modern life can lead human beings to expose themselves to situations of conflict and emotional destabilization, which can cause the emergence of stress, which, despite being a common process, can become pathological, such as post-traumatic stress disorder. Objective: To identify the interventions led by the nursing team for patients with PTSD and the effectiveness of these approaches. Methodology: a systematic review was conducted. The search strategy occurred using terms obtained from DeCS and MESH and synonyms combined with the Boolean operators (AND, OR) through virtual access to the VHL. Results: the selected papers had the purpose of showing the scientific evidence about the care of patients with post-traumatic stress disorder in various contexts such as patients who have been in the ICU, their families, combat veterans, and patients who were or are cancer victims. Conclusion: collaborative journal writing, motivational interviewing, telemedicine, multicomponent programs, home care, follow-up in a multidisciplinary clinic, and counseling associated with prolonged exposure were interventions applied by nurses that proved effective in the care of these patients.
