Abstract

Interest in innovation, its processes and management has advanced significantly as markets become more dynamic. This has demanded from organizations the need to become innovative in order to take better advantage of the opportunities offered by technology, in changes in markets, structures and dynamics. The objective of this article is to identify and disseminate how the introduction of the IAb open innovation took place, the main evolutions of the IAb process, its characteristics today in the view of Chesbrough, considered the father of the IAb. Several literature review documents from the Scopus scientific base make up this study, to understand the evolutionary process of the IAb concept applied in organizations. As a result, the article presents the types of IAb, their benefits, also highlighting the challenges to be overcome, as well as its perspective on the future of the IAb to be integrated into different purposes of organizational activities. The method adopted was qualitative research, with an exploratory approach, and 50 articles by the specified author and their respective co-authors were found, using theoretical-conceptual methodology.
