Abstract

COVID-19 is a pandemic caused by the new coronavirus called SARS-coV2. In this sense, this disease can affect several systems of the human body due to its expressive ability to cause the formation of lesions in the endothelium of blood vessels and to be responsible for causing Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC). This is possible due to the virus' ability to interact, in a complex way, with the endothelial cells of blood vessels, which can affect the intact functioning of human vital systems and cause damage to the body as a consequence of local inflammation, and can evolve to a systemic level. Moreover, recent studies seek to understand what is the relationship between the parameters related to body homeostasis and the development of the most severe form related to the pandemic of COVID-19. In this point of view, we sought to relate the understanding of some authors about Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation and COVID-19, discussing the connection of the virus with the systemic repercussions of this disease and the factors that influence hypercoagulation as a result of thromboembolic complications.
