INCISIVE MOLAR HYPOMINERALIZATION (HMI) IN PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY - DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT

hypomineralization (MIH) is an alteration of systemicAbstract
Molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is an alteration of systemic origin in the
development of dental enamel that can affect the first permanent molars, and may also
be present in permanent incisors, which may be equally affected. Objective: to know
the alteration (HMI) for a correct prognosis, as well as the clinical manifestations from
the perspective of pediatric dentistry, and specifically to compare the severity of the
alteration. Methodology: literature review, using books, theses, monographs,
dissertations and scientific articles published in Brazil and selected international
countries by searching the following databases: Scielo, Lilacs and academic google.
Final considerations: the HMI must receive adequate attention from the dentist due to
the clinical and aesthetic consequences caused to the patient, interfering in the quality
of life of the same, the early diagnosis of the HMI and a preventive approach avoids
the accomplishment of treatments of greater complexity and is able to avoid possible
damage resulting from the change.
