Abstract

Emerging and Reemerging Diseases occupy a place of epidemiological importance in public health, since attention is paid to the control of diseases and their vectors. They are directly linked to improving the health of the population. Diseases can be influenced by socio-environmental factors such as climate change and disorderly urban growth. The present study intends to continue the ongoing Project “The impact of a postgraduate course in nursing in residency models”, focusing on the actions developed by Resident Nurses in the face of emerging diseases, with the study “Performance of Resident Nurses in emerging diseases", which will seek to identify the Resident Nurses of the 2019/2021 and 2020/2022 Classes who developed care activities in emerging events, contextualize the actions developed, relating them to guidelines and recommendations from the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health . The research will be of an exploratory nature, with a qualitative approach, to characterize and analyze the impact of knowing and doing of the Resident Nurses, of the Graduate Course in Nursing in Moldes Residency, in the face of emerging events. The results show positive reports regarding the acquisition of new knowledge and the evolution of care practice, in a way caused by the work with emerging diseases. The issue of mental health was reported by the participants, being a frequent problem and intensely experienced by them. Measures that contribute to reducing the psychological impacts suffered by these professionals become valid, such as helping psychologists to promote mental health and reduce negative effects.
