THE INTERGENERATIONAL TRANSMISSION OF POVERTY – A BRIEF ANALYSIS OF THE MOZAMBICAN CONTEXT

Abstract

Poverty is a condition that affects a large number of people across the world. However, governments in all countries tend to carry out a series of actions tending to combat it, in favor of the well-being of their population. Factors associated with the condition of poverty are the main reason why various instruments are designed to deal with it. These factors vary according to the economic position of countries as well as the prevailing conception of their population in terms of individual efforts to get out of this condition. The aim of this essay is to analyze the factors that created the transmission of poverty between generations as well as the actions that can be taken to get out of this condition. For this purpose, the bibliography will be searched. Among the factors associated with poverty, there are domestic and extra-domestic ones as preponderant for plunging an individual into the web of poverty or not. In this way, investment in human capital, in such a way that the individual takes advantage of all the potential around him to get out of the condition of poverty, is the most viable path.
