Abstract

The Information Technology (IT) and administrative sectors have the highest rates of Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (DORT) in the upper limbs. The aim of this study was to identify the risks and suggest improvements in the ergonomic conditions of IT workers. This is a cross-sectional and quantitative research that evaluated 29 employees from the Information Technology sector of a University of Southern Santa Catarina of both sexes and aged between 18 and 55 years, with an average age of 34.88 years and standard deviation of 9.30 using as tools the Checklist of Couto and a Sociodemographic and symptom questionnaire that comprises the visual analog scale (VAS) used for identification and quantification of pain and the Borg scale for subjective perception of exertion. The results showed that (61.5%) of the evaluated women had moderate computer jobs and (57.7%) had a moderate risk of TSD. Thus, ergonomic evaluations become important tools for ergonomic risk management and DORT prevention.
