Occupational stress is a factor that is discussed within organizations due to the impact on workers' health. Knowing the labor characteristics that lead to stressors in public institutions is important to promote quality of life at work. The objective of this study was to identify work stress using the short version of the "job stress scale" as a tool, concatenating the sociodemographic, behavioral and work aspects. The individuals that comprised the sample were 211 Administrative Technical servers from the Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM), whose data were collected through the application of a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive and inferential statistics with univariate and multivariate analyzes. The results obtained showed that 34.6% of the respondents were in Passive Work and 30.8% in High Wear. It was possible to identify the predictive factors of the demand-control quadrants with a significant result in the passive work quadrant for the auxiliary/assistant management positions and intention to rotate with odds ratio (OR) 3.767 and 6.482 respectively and for the high wear quadrant the auxiliary positions./administration assistant with OR 4,143 and rotation intention with OR 4,084. The study recommends possible interventions for administrative auxiliary/assistant positions as well as indicating that further studies should be carried out to identify the causes of the high turnover intention rate.
