Abstract

This study aims to investigate the quality of teaching-learning of mathematics professed in Angola. The theme chosen is the mathematical concept of scientific notation and teachers from three schools in the Angolan Province of Cabinda participated in it. The results obtained reveal that the Professional training of mathematics teachers in this Province is not yet desired, although all have pedagogical training at different academic levels from secondary to postgraduate education and even others in higher education of a pedagogical nature. This is because all or almost all respondents still have traditional teaching methods as their preference that weaken the solid training of pupils in mathematics, a fact that has just been confirmed with the comparative data collected on the assessment of pupils from these schools in three successive school years.
