Abstract

In view of the growing adherence to domestic felines, some diseases, with atypical evolution, require better conducts, and the reporting of these may help veterinarians in the routine care of this species. Among the diseases that can be related, feline aortic thromboembolism has a high mortality rate, usually evolving fatally in the first episode. Thus, the present study aims to report the spontaneous remission of aortic thromboembolism in a 1-year-old feline, in view of the need for greater attention in cardiovascular diseases that affect felines, and it is of paramount importance to monitor the clinical findings to correct therapeutic management, mainly those that propose the non-recurrence of the disease. A 1-year-old feline patient was admitted to a private veterinary clinic with a chief complaint of paralysis of the hind limbs, with cyanosis, hypothermia of the foot pads with loss of proprioception and loss of painful response to palpation being identified. After clinical evaluation and evaluation of blood count and renal and hepatic serum biochemistry, alterations were observed and the presumptive suspicion in this case was aortic thromboembolism secondary to platelet hemodynamic alteration. Therapy was instituted with the use of antiplatelet agents, and after 11 months, no new conditions were observed. The literature says that recurrent conditions are very common, and that they occur mainly in cats with heart disease, as opposed to the data described in this report.
