Abstract

In a generation where people are increasingly looking for mentoring and personal development initiatives to boost their professional lives, there is a curiosity to dissect the concept of success into characteristics and competences that result in the profile of a successful person. In the context of Neuro Linguistic Programming, replicating the habits and skills of recognised professionals in a particular field of activity leads to the formation of patterns of thought and behaviour that end up surpassing those of the references themselves. The main aim of this study was to assess the correlation between NLP knowledge and practices and the academic and professional success of a sample of individuals. A quantitative approach was adopted and a questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument. The sample was selected for convenience and consisted of 60 participants. The results showed that there is no significant correlation between competence in NLP techniques and greater academic success or professional advancement.
