DIAGNÓSTICO DE FRACTURA VERTICAL DE LA RAÍZ: UNA REVISIÓN DE LA LITERATURA

El objetivo de este artículo fue identificar los principales factores asociados a la fractura vertical radicular y presentar los principales métodos diagnósticos con énfasis en la tomografía computarizada, y comparar estudios cuantitativos in vitro e in vivo, en cuanto a la sensibilidad, especificidad y precisión de la técnica diagnóstica. Se realizó una búsqueda de artículos publicados entre 2011-2021 en bases de datos lilacs y pubmed. De los 446 registros encontrados, 38 artículos fueron elegidos para fines de revisión bibliográfica intercambiable. En relación con los signos y síntomas, el dolor, la fístula, el absceso o la hinchazón periodontal, y las radiolucencias periapicales y el halo en forma de J son hallazgos comunes. La tomografía computarizada de haz cónico se evidenció como el método no invasivo más apropiado para la detección de fractura radicular. La técnica destaca por la producción de imágenes 3D de alta resolución que permiten una visualización precisa de las líneas de fractura. En los dientes llenos de materiales radiopacos, como la gutapercha y los pasadores metálicos, las distorsiones con la producción de artefactos son comunes, lo que disminuye significativamente el poder de diagnóstico.
