UN FLUJO PARA LA TOMA DE DECISIONES RESPECTO A LAS RECESIONES GINGIVALES

La recesión gingival se caracteriza por el desplazamiento apical del margen gingival, causando un compromiso estético y biológico. Aumenta el riesgo de la aparición de lesiones cervicales y de la sintomatología dolorosa. Una clasificación correcta y un diagnóstico preciso son requisitos indispensables para un plan de tratamiento adecuado para el paciente. El objetivo de esta revisión de literatura narrativa fue abordar el diagnóstico, las clasificaciones y los conceptos básicos para la toma de decisiones frente al cuadro clínico de las recesiones gingivales. La metodología consiste en una revisión de literatura narrativa descriptiva sobre los principios fundamentales para el tratamiento correcto de las recesiones gingivales. Se incluyeron libros y artículos científicos publicados en revistas revisadas por pares, revisiones de literatura, revisiones sistemáticas, metaanálisis y estudios clínicos controlados y/o randomizados. Seguir las clasificaciones y un diagrama de flujo correcto para el plan de tratamiento puede promover resultados satisfactorios para la condición del individuo, además de prevenir iatrogenias y/o empeoramiento en el cuadro de recesiones gingivales únicas o múltiples.
