EL USO DE PROPÓLEO EN LA DESINFECCIÓN DEL CANAL RAÍCTICO DURANTE EL TRATAMIENTO ENDODÓNTICO

La tasa de éxito de la endodoncia varía entre el 86% y el 98%, pero para que se logren estos valores, es fundamental eliminar cualquier tipo de microorganismos del conducto radicular. Para lograr el éxito del tratamiento a largo plazo, se requiere una excelente desinfección endodóntica. Durante el manejo, la instrumentación es esencial, sin embargo, por sí sola no promueve la eliminación completa de bacterias, por lo que surge la importancia de las sustancias antimicrobianas para la eliminación de microorganismos. Actualmente, tenemos como principales irrigadores de endodoncia hipoclorito de sodio (NaOCl) y clorhexidina (CHX), pero, aunque ampliamente utilizados, pueden ser tóxicos y perjudiciales para los tejidos períapicos. Se están investigando varias sustancias para encontrar la solución antimicrobiana ideal y una de ellas es el propóleo. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este estudio es evaluar la eficacia del propóleo en la desinfección del conducto radicular, en comparación con CHX y NaOCl, a través de la literatura. El propóleo recogido de las plantas por las abejas es una sustancia resinosa y biocompatible, además de tener propiedades antibacterianas, antiinflamatorias, antitumorales, antifúngicas, etc. Con base en los artículos recolectados, se observó que la especie Enterococcus faecalis se destacó como el principal patógeno responsable del fracaso del tratamiento endodóntico. La investigación muestra que el propóleo mostró efectividad contra Candida Albicans, Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Prevotella y Actinomyces en diferentes formas de investigación. En base a este estudio, concluimos que el propóleo, aunque no es el agente de regadío con mayor.
