INFLUÊNCIA DO EXCESSO PONDERAL SOBRE A FISIOPATOLOGIA DA SÍNDROME DOS OVÁRIOS POLICÍSTICOS

A síndrome do ovário policístico (SOP) é um transtorno endócrino metabólico muito comum em mulheres na fase entre a menarca e a menopausa. Alguns elementos, a exemplo do fator genético, ambiental e socioeconômico, estão relacionados ao desenvolvimento desse distúrbio, assim como a presença de condições clínico-patológicas, como a obesidade, sendo muito comum o aumento dos sintomas da SOP na vigência de um consumo excessivo de carboidratos simples, gorduras saturadas e trans. Diante do exposto, a presente pesquisa teve como objetivo verificar a associação entre o excesso de peso e a progressão da síndrome dos ovários policísticos. O trabalho é uma revisão narrativa da literatura, baseada em artigos científicos das bases de dados bibliográficos PubMed e SciELO, sendo utilizados, prioritariamente, artigos datados entre 2016 e 2021. O excesso ponderal leva a um hiperandrogenismo, promovendo o aumento da produção e da ação biológica dos androgênios no organismo, principalmente da testosterona. Esse estado reflete na menstruação irregular, infertilidade e presença de cistos nos ovários. Assim, pode-se concluir que o excesso ponderal tem relação direta com a instalação e/ou exacerbação da SOP e que o controle dietoterápico e de estilo de vida se faz essencial para tratar essa condição.
