ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT CAUSED BY WAST FROM THE CENTRAL HOSPITAL IN HUAMBO.

Abstract

Hospital waste is the remains arising from the relationships between patients and health professionals, whether at the in-hospital and out-of-hospital level and constitute a serious problem for the population, because the incorrect disposal of these causes often irreversible impacts on people in terms of illnesses. The present study aims to highlight the deleterious effects that garbage from Huambo Central Hospital can cause to the environment, ecosystems and the entire biosphere. This study was carried out through a bibliographic survey, developed at the Instituto Superior da Caála, in Angola. They are also classified according to origin: coming from the patient-professional relationship of the central hospital of Huambo. Waste can also be organic or inorganic and its destination is the main focus of current problems and recycling is one of the most important alternatives to try to inhibit the various garbage dumps in Huambo. It is concluded that the correct disposal of hospital waste is necessary to reduce the negative impact on the population and contamination with diseases. The Huambo Central Hospital must formulate a management plan according to the characteristics of each service provided, considering the available resources and the personnel necessary for its realization.
