The teaching of chemistry is not always linked to the practice and reality of students, a fact that can generate misunderstanding of the contents and lack of interest in the discipline. This article aims to analyze the use of regional contextualization of books of the National Textbook Program (PNLD) in the discipline of Chemistry of basic education, related to the Amazonian context. The methodology consisted of the analysis of high school textbooks adopted in the federal and state network (1st, 2nd and 3rd year) and presented a quali-quantitative, descriptive and exploratory approach. The results obtained show that the textbooks present a contextualization focused more on the southern and southeastern areas, and a representative lack for contextualization focused on the Amazon region, especially in the books of the second year. Thus, it is necessary to complement the contents in teaching methodologies aiming to contribute to this gap.
