Abstract

The field of endodontics is constantly evolving and research focuses on the development of innovative techniques and materials to protect periapical tissues. The LSTR (Lesion and Tissue Styling and Repair) technique has shown promise in removing lesions and repairing dental tissues, but its effectiveness and safety remain unclear. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of LSTR in long-term follow-up in the treatment of partial or total pulp lesions in primary teeth, comparing it with other endodontic techniques. The methodology was an electronic search in the PubMed, LILACS and Scopus databases of publications in English from the beginning of 2010 to July 15, 2024, of which 20 articles referring to the topic were selected. Results gave us to understand how an inflammatory and repair process begins in the dental pulp, antibiotics do not participate in these stages and other traditional non-cytotoxic substances, biological materials do form part of the formation and activation of regeneration and revascularization mediators. by having activity with stem cells and scaffold formation. Conclusion: SHED, DPSC, SCAP and PDLSC stem cells have also been mentioned as promising in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering therapies. It is also described that the use of biomaterials should be the new therapy to continue based on scientific evidence for the treatment of pulp therapies in pediatric dentistry that seek pulp regeneration or revascularization.
