CORPORATE GOVERNANCE: REFLECTIONS ON EDUCATION AND TEACHING IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS (HEIs)

The article addresses the importance of Corporate Governance in Higher Education Institutions (HEI´s) in the period resulting from the pandemic, highlighting how these organizations adapted to new realities. Corporate Governance is defined as a set of practices and standards that aim to improve performance and reduce risks, being essential to guarantee transparency, equity and responsibility in relationships with stakeholders. As a research problem, we intend to identify and analyze how Brazilian HEI´s faced and adopted Corporate Governance practices following the pandemic. The in-depth qualitative method was used, with the application of a script of open-ended questions. The study analyzes how HEI´s, especially private ones, faced the challenges posed by the pandemic, such as the transition to remote teaching and the need for technological investments. Although private HEI´s adapted more flexibly, public ones faced greater difficulties due to structural and financial limitations. The article also discusses the differences in management between private and public HEI´s, and how the adoption of good governance practices can contribute to educational and social development, suggesting that governance must be integrated into the organizational culture to promote sustainable results and positively impact society.
