THE PERFORMANCE OF THE MILITARY POLICE OF PARANÁ IN FRONT OF POLICE INCIDENTS INVOLVING INDIGENOUS PEOPLE: ESTABLISHMENT OF A STANDARD OPERATIONAL PROCEDURE

Abstract

This article aims to present data, information and experiences that help the General Command of the Military Police of Paraná in the construction of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), in situations of handling police incidents involving indigenous people. This subject deserves relevance due to the author's own experience in the operational field of the Military Police, when he had the opportunity on countless occasions to face this type of occurrence that, due to its specificity, generated doubts among the military police during the service. Questions such as: Should I enter the indigenous reserve to answer the call? Should the indigenous offender, regardless of the location of the crime or misdemeanor, be taken to the police station? What is the competent police authority to receive this offender? If the incident is related to a land dispute, who should be officially notified of the fact? In this way, we sought to present, through data surveys and analysis of facts, sufficient information to resolve doubts and clarify the military police who work within the State of Paraná, especially those who work in areas that are home to indigenous reserves, optimizing the quality of the services provided by the Military Police, with respect for Human Rights and the culture of the indigenous people. For that, descriptive bibliographical research was used as a methodology, in order to support the final position of this article for the construction of the aforementioned protocol.
