OPTIMIZANDO LA ATENCIÓN DENTAL INFANTIL: EL PAPEL DE LA INTELIGENCIA ARTIFICIAL EN ODONTOPEDIATRÍA

Resumen

La utilización de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) se expande rápidamente en muchos campos de la odontología, incluyendo la odontopediatría. Se requieren investigaciones más extensas para validar completamente sus beneficios y aplicaciones específicas en el cuidado dental infantil. Este estudio realizó una revisión narrativa de la literatura sobre el papel de la IA en la optimización de la atención odontopediátrica. Se consultaron bases de datos como PubMed y Google Scholar para recopilar los artículos relevantes sin distinción de idioma. La revisión de 31 artículos encontró que se aplican varias técnicas de IA como redes neuronales, aprendizaje profundo y aprendizaje automático en odontopediatría , mostrando resultados inicialmente prometedores pero preliminares en la detección temprana de caries, planificación de tratamientos y educación del paciente. Sin embargo, se necesitan estudios a mayor escala para determinar si estos avances diagnósticos realmente se traducen en mejores resultados a largo plazo. Además, la revisión destacó varios desafíos vinculados al uso de la IA, incluyendo sesgos en los datos y modelos, privacidad, ética y acceso desigual. Se requieren estándares, regulaciones y programas de capacitación apropiados para implementar la IA de manera segura y equitativa.  Por lo tanto, la integración de la IA en odontopediatría debe evaluarse cuidadosamente, considerando sus implicancias clínicas, económicas y sociales. Esto asegurará que se aprovechen sus fortalezas sin comprometer otros objetivos de la salud bucodental infantil.
