Abstract

This article presents a study on the Distance Learning (DL) community-based pre-entrance exam reinforcement aimed at students in Youth and Adult Education (YAE) in the city of Itacoatiara-AM. The extension project aims to provide opportunities for preparation to enter a Public University, emphasizing the construction of knowledge in mathematics. The methodologies adopted were carefully selected to effectively address the challenges and opportunities of teaching mathematics in a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Collaboration with Municipal Schools and YAE enabled the development of DL classes, with the assistance of Computer Science undergraduate students who acted as mediators and instructors. The topics covered in the classes were aligned with the syllabus of the entrance exam for the State  University of Amazonas (UEA), aiming to adequately prepare students for entrance exams. Finally, the article concludes that distance mathematics education through community-based DL pre-entrance exam reinforcement shows promising results in preparing YAE students for the entrance exam, as well as contributing to the democratization of quality public education. The final remarks point to the importance of investing in new educational strategies and technologies to continuously improve distance mathematics education and promote a more inclusive and accessible education for all students.
