Abstract

In the last years there is a great concern with the teaching and learning of Mathematics, especially in basic and fundamental education. This concern is mainly due to the lack of schooling that students have when they observe the performance indexes in Mathematics, as well as the lack of motivation and interest during class. This situation is causing some teachers to rethink their professional performance and their work methodology, instigating them in search of new performances in the classroom, such as the use of play activities in their classes. However, in order for these activities to mediate teaching and learning, achieving the expected objectives, it is necessary to study the teacher before its application, verifying the objectives of the activity and the way they will be developed so that the activity is not just a pastime, but rather to contribute to the acquisition of knowledge, in addition to being contextualized in the student's reality. This is the purpose of this article: to propose a play activity for sixth year students - the imaginary market in the school - with the intention of working mathematical skills.
